A considered way to make a will

A clear path
to putting your
wishes in writing.

Making a will starts with understanding what matters to you. Our process gives you space to explain your wishes, review the proposed wording and understand what happens at each stage.

Our approach
Before we begin

Your circumstances are personal. The process should feel straightforward.

We begin by learning what you want your will to address. We then explain the service available, confirm the fee and expected timescale, and outline the information needed before any drafting begins. You can ask questions before deciding whether to proceed.

From first enquiry to final document

What happens, and when.

Each stage has a clear purpose. The precise scope, fee, delivery arrangements and expected timings are confirmed with you before your order is accepted.

Tell us what you have in mind.

Contact us with a brief outline of what you are looking for. You do not need to include detailed family, financial or other private information in the first enquiry.

We will review your enquiry and explain the next steps, including whether the service you are seeking appears to fit the work we offer.

An enquiry is not, by itself, confirmation that an order has been accepted or that work has started.

Understanding your wishes

Talk through the details that matter.

If the service is suitable, we will explain the proposed arrangements and ask for the information needed to prepare your will. This may include your intended beneficiaries, the people you wish to appoint and other instructions relevant to your circumstances.

We will clarify points that need further explanation rather than assume what you intended. Please provide information through the agreed communication method.

The information required depends on the instructions and scope agreed for your particular service.

Preparing your draft

Your instructions become a document to review.

Once the agreed fee has been paid and the necessary information received, we prepare a draft based on the instructions confirmed with you and carry out the checks included in the agreed service.

If information is missing or an instruction needs clarification, we may contact you before the draft can be completed. The expected delivery period will depend on the agreed service and the information available.

Work outside the agreed scope will be discussed with you before any additional chargeable work is undertaken.

Review and delivery

Read carefully. Raise questions. Confirm the next step.

We send the draft to you using the agreed delivery method. Take time to check names, relationships, intended gifts and other details. If something does not reflect your instructions, contact us within the review arrangements confirmed for your service.

We will explain how to request amendments within the agreed scope. If you want to make substantial changes or introduce new matters, we will discuss whether further work is needed and confirm any additional fee before proceeding.

The final document is supplied with relevant signing and witnessing instructions. Signing and witnessing remain separate steps for you to complete in accordance with the applicable rules.

Your part in the process

A careful review makes a difference.

Your draft should reflect what you have told us. Reviewing it thoroughly gives you the opportunity to identify details that may need clarification before the document is finalised.

What to check in your draft

The points below are useful prompts, not a substitute for considering the requirements that apply to your circumstances.

Names and details Check spelling, personal details and the identity of the people mentioned.
Your wishes Confirm that the proposed wording reflects the instructions you provided.
Unclear wording Ask about passages or terms you do not understand before proceeding.
Changes needed Tell us promptly if something needs correcting or if your instructions have changed.
After the document is delivered

Preparation is one part. Proper signing is another.

Receiving your will does not mean that the signing and witnessing requirements have been completed. You need to follow the rules that apply in the relevant jurisdiction and to your circumstances.

For wills made in England and Wales, formal requirements generally include signing the will in the presence of two witnesses who are present at the same time, followed by the witnesses signing in the testator's presence. Specific circumstances can affect what is required.

If you are unsure whether the proposed arrangements are appropriate for you, seek advice from a suitably qualified legal professional before signing.

Our document-preparation and delivery process should not be understood as a guarantee that a will is valid, suitable for every circumstance or immune from a future dispute.

A few useful answers

Before you get started.

If your circumstances are unusual or you are unsure which service fits your needs, contact us before placing an order.

How long does the process take?
The expected timescale depends on the service selected, the complexity of your instructions and how quickly the required information is provided. We will confirm the applicable delivery estimate before accepting your order. If further information is needed, this may affect the schedule.
When does work begin?
Submitting an enquiry does not automatically create an order. We will confirm the service scope, fee, payment arrangements and expected timescale. Work begins in accordance with the arrangements confirmed for your order and after the required payment and information have been received.
Can I request changes to the draft?
You can raise questions and request changes under the review arrangements agreed for your service. Corrections needed to make the draft reflect your original instructions should be distinguished from new instructions or substantial changes, which may require additional work. Any additional charge will be discussed beforehand.
Can you help with every type of will?
Not every situation will be suitable for a standard will-writing service. Where your circumstances involve complex arrangements, overseas assets, business interests, trusts, disputed family matters or other specialist issues, we may recommend that you obtain independent legal advice before proceeding.
Will you store my original signed will?
The document delivery service should not be taken to include storage of an original signed will unless this has been expressly confirmed as part of your agreed service. Please retain your signed document securely and ensure that the people who need to know where it is can find it when appropriate.
Does receiving the document complete everything?
No. Delivery of the document is separate from signing and witnessing. You must follow the applicable formal requirements. If you are uncertain about validity, capacity, complex provisions or other legal questions, obtain appropriate independent advice.
