Service arrangements & delivery
Service Delivery Policy
Clear information about how our will-writing service is arranged, how your instructions are used, what you receive and what happens before a document is ready for signing.
Our service is designed to help customers set out their wishes for a will through an organised instruction and document-preparation process. The exact scope, fee, delivery method and estimated timeframe will be confirmed before an order is accepted.
Service overview
LIFE IS TOO SHORT LIMITED provides will-writing services based on the instructions and information supplied by the customer. Depending on the service agreed, this may include an initial consultation, clarification of instructions, preparation of a draft will, an opportunity to review the draft, agreed amendments and delivery of the final document.
The precise inclusions depend on the selected service and the arrangements confirmed with you. A general enquiry or initial consultation does not, by itself, confirm an order or guarantee that a particular document can be prepared.
Before work begins
Before accepting an order, we will explain the relevant service scope, price, payment arrangements, expected delivery timeframe and delivery method. Where a matter requires information or work beyond the service offered, we will explain this before proceeding where reasonably identifiable.
Work begins in accordance with the confirmed booking or order arrangements and any applicable legal requirements. If the service is arranged online or at a distance, any applicable cancellation rights and requirements concerning an express request to begin work during a cancellation period will be addressed through the relevant order terms and process.
We may need to obtain further information before confirming that we can proceed. If the requested work is not suitable for our service, we will explain the position and any appropriate next step.
How the service is delivered
Understand your wishes
We discuss the service requested and the information needed to understand your instructions. You may be asked about relevant family circumstances, intended beneficiaries, executors and other matters appropriate to the agreed service.
Confirm the information
We review the information you provide and may ask questions to clarify your wishes. Preparation depends on receiving instructions that are sufficiently clear for the agreed work.
Prepare the draft
We prepare a draft document in line with the agreed scope and the instructions available to us. If a material issue prevents us from progressing, we will contact you to discuss it.
Review the draft
You have the opportunity to review the draft and raise questions or identify amendments in accordance with the review arrangements confirmed for your service.
Receive the final document
Once the agreed preparation and review steps are complete, we deliver the final document using the confirmed delivery method and provide relevant information about signing and witnessing where included in the service.
Delivery timeframes
The estimated delivery timeframe will be communicated before the order is confirmed. The applicable estimate may depend on the type of service, the complexity of the instructions, the completeness of the information received and whether clarification is required.
Unless a different start point is expressly agreed, the preparation timeframe should be understood to begin when the order is accepted, required payment arrangements are completed and the information necessary to proceed has been received.
If further information is needed, the work may be paused while we wait for your response. If we anticipate a material delay, we will aim to inform you, explain the reason and provide an updated estimate.
Timing is confirmed for each order
We do not apply a single guaranteed turnaround to every matter. The estimate applicable to your service will be provided in the order confirmation or other written service agreement. Any expressly agreed deadline will be handled in accordance with that agreement and applicable law.
Delivery method
The agreed delivery method will be confirmed when your service is arranged. Depending on the service and what has been agreed, documents may be supplied electronically or by another expressly agreed method.
If a printed or posted document is included, the relevant arrangements, any applicable charge and the expected dispatch or delivery estimate will be explained before the order is confirmed. A postal estimate may depend on the delivery service and destination.
Customers should ensure that their contact details are accurate and that they can access the agreed delivery channel. Please contact us promptly if a document does not arrive as expected or if you believe a file is missing or cannot be opened.
Draft review and amendments
You should read the draft carefully and check that the details and instructions recorded in it reflect your wishes. If anything appears incorrect or unclear, please raise it before signing the document.
The number of review rounds, any included amendments and the period available for submitting comments will be set out in the service terms or order confirmation. We will not assume that unlimited revisions are included unless this has been expressly agreed.
Amendments that correct an error attributable to our preparation will be considered in light of the agreed service and applicable law. Changes arising from new instructions, a change in circumstances or work outside the original scope may require a revised fee or a separate service. We will explain any additional charge and obtain agreement before carrying out chargeable additional work.
Final documents and signing
Delivery of the final document completes the document-delivery stage of the service. It does not mean that a will has automatically been signed, witnessed or brought into effect.
Customers are responsible for following the signing and witnessing requirements applicable to their circumstances, unless a separate service expressly includes further assistance. For a will governed by the law of England and Wales, the general formalities ordinarily include signature by the testator, or acknowledgement of that signature, in the presence of two witnesses present at the same time, followed by each witness signing in the testator’s presence. Individual circumstances can affect what steps are appropriate.
General signing information is available from GOV.UK guidance on making a will legal.
We do not guarantee that a document will be suitable for every future circumstance or that it will never be challenged. If your circumstances are complex or you are uncertain about legal formalities, independent legal advice may be appropriate.
Additional work and charges
The agreed fee covers the work expressly included in your selected service. Additional work may be needed if you change your instructions substantially, request services not included in the original arrangement or provide new information that materially changes the work required.
Before carrying out chargeable additional work, we will explain the proposed scope, any additional fee and any effect on the delivery estimate. We will seek your agreement before proceeding.
If you do not wish to proceed with the additional work, we will explain the available options under the original agreement and applicable law.
Customer responsibilities
To help us deliver the agreed service, please:
- Provide complete and accurate instructions to the best of your knowledge.
- Respond to reasonable requests for clarification.
- Review draft documents carefully and raise concerns promptly.
- Keep your email address, telephone number and other contact details current.
- Tell us if your instructions materially change while work is in progress.
- Follow the applicable signing and witnessing requirements after delivery.
Delays caused by missing information, late responses or changed instructions may affect the estimated delivery date. We will explain any material impact where reasonably practicable.
Service scope and limitations
Our work is based on the service agreed and the information provided by the customer. The service may not cover specialist legal advice, tax advice, financial advice, trust arrangements, overseas assets, complex business ownership, disputed family circumstances or other matters requiring specialist assessment, unless expressly confirmed in writing.
If an issue falls outside the agreed scope or requires expertise that we do not provide, we may explain that further work cannot be undertaken as part of the existing service and suggest that you consider an appropriately qualified professional.
Nothing in this policy excludes or limits rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
